Shooting takes place near Rama

On Tuesday, July 27 at approximately 7:00 pm, a 47-year-old area farmer was shot and seriously wounded by a neighbour near Rama, SK. Canora RCMP led the investigation.

RCMP members from Warman and Martensville established blockades late that evening to apprehend the suspect, as it was believed he was heading in their direction.

The suspect, 44-year-old Rodney Hanishewski of the Rama District, was arrested by Warman RCMP at 3:40 am on Wednesday morning on Range Road 3042 near Warman.

The arrest occurred without incident, but RCMP did recover long-barrel rifles from the suspect's vehicle.Hanishewski appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Thursday, July 29 to answer a charge of attempted murder. He made a second Provincial Court appearance in Yorkton on Tuesday, August 3.

The matter remains under investigation by Canora and Warman RCMP, with assistance from the Yorkton and Saskatoon RCMP Forensic Identification Sections and the RCMP Major Crime 小蓝视频 Unit.

Pedestrian struckAt approximately 21:45 hours on Sunday, August 1, 2010, the Yorkton Municipal RCMP Detachment along with Yorkton EMS responded to a complaint of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The collision occurred on Broadway Street near the intersection of Myrtle Avenue in the downtown area of Yorkton.

A 47-year-old male from Regina was struck by an eastbound vehicle while crossing the street. The male has been transported to Regina where he continues to receive medical treatment for serious injuries. The collision did not occur at a controlled intersection or a marked crosswalk. Alcohol is not a factor in this incident. The investigation is continuing into the cause of the collision with the assistance of an F Division Senior Traffic Analyst.
