Saskatchewan's manufacturing shipments were up on a seasonally-adjusted basis both on a monthly increase between October 2010 and November 2010 as well as year-over-year.
Statistics Canada released a report today on manufacturing shipments for November 2010.
Between October 2010 and November 2010, shipments in the province increased by 3.8 per cent ($36 million).
On a year-over-year basis, shipments were up by 10.6 per cent ($94 million).
Saskatchewan had the fifth highest percentage increase among the provinces in both comparisons.
"Saskatchewan has a vibrant manufacturing sector and today's results indicate more promise for the future," Enterprise Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "The high Canadian dollar and struggling global markets have had an impact on manufacturing, but it appears the strong rebound in commodity prices are contributing to the increase in the November statistics."
Nationally, manufacturing shipments dropped by 0.8 per cent between October 2010 and November 2010. Between November 2009 and November 2010, shipments were up by 6.2 per cent nationally.
