Yorkton Rotary Club is seeking young professionals and businesspeople interested in expanding their horizons with a trip to England next fall.
Four people aged 25 to 40 will be chosen from across Rotary District 5550, which encompasses most of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and northwestern Ontario, for the annual Rotary Group Study Exchange. The exchange is open only to non-Rotary members and people not immediately related to Rotary members, explains Yorkton Rotary Club president Terry Tyson.
"One of the founding tenets of Rotary is that it's a service club built around businesspeople. The idea behind a group study exchange is simply to broaden the horizons of the base of what really is potential membership."
Arranging these exchanges is another way for Rotary to spread its motto of "Service Above Self," adds Tyson.
Other requirements to apply include Canadian citizenship, at least two years of employment in a profession or business, and good health.
On the trip, the team of four young ambassadors and a Rotary leader will attend scheduled activities such as Rotary meetings, industry tours, and social activities, as well as vocational experiences tailored to each member. Travel expenses, accommodations, and meals are all included in the trip. The total time commitment required is about one month.
District 5550, in turn, will host a team of ambassadors from England.
Beyond the official requirements, Tyson says the Rotary Club has certain personality traits in mind for applicants.
"More outgoing, comfortable, dynamic types of personalities would thrive during something like this. Somebody with a bit of a sense of adventure is going to be needed."
The final candidates will be chosen through an interview process.
Tyson says he is not aware of anyone from the Yorkton area going on a Rotary study exchange in the past, but qualified candidates have a good chance of 小蓝视频 selected.
