One of Outlook’s most well-known and enduring homegrown musical acts was recognized by a province of its peers earlier this month, as they were bestowed with quite a remarkable honor.
On April 13, during the Saskatchewan Country Music Association’s (SCMA) Awards weekend in Saskatoon, the Myrol Brothers were awarded the ‘Legends and Legacy Award’. The Myrol Brothers were first awarded the Non-Touring Band in 1991, and they were the first generation of musicians in the SCMA.
The special honor for the hometown band keeps in the SCMA’s tradition of recognizing some of the pioneers of the Saskatchewan country music scene.
Perhaps even more special was the fact that fellow country singer Lisa Moen, the 2018 Country Music Person of the Year and the daughter of Myles Myrol, was able to present the award to her father and uncles.
In addition to receiving the prestigious award from the SCMA, the Myrol Brothers also performed onstage during the event, bringing the proverbial house down and receiving a standing ovation.
