RCMP members in Broadview have conducted a drug search at a marijuana grow operation in the community of Grenfell, SK.
On September 8th at approximately 7:48 am, RCMP executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant on an abandoned theater in the community of Grenfell, SK. Grenfell is located approximately 125 kms east of Regina, SK. Inside the theater, officers found approximately 416 marijuana plants in all stages of growth, as well as 10 pounds of cultivated marijuana which was ready for distribution. The marijuana grow operation utilized a sophisticated and automated system to support the marijuana plants.
The investigation into this property began on Tuesday, September 7, following a seizure by Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) officers at the Goodlands, MB border crossing located approximately 340 kms southwest of Winnipeg, MB. CBSA authorities contacted the RCMP in Broadview with information that led to the search on September 8th.
The following have been charged in relation to this investigation:Luc Bernard D'Abadie, male 29 years old, from Calgary - Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession for the purpose of Trafficking (CDSA)
Erika Miljkovic, female 55 years old, from Grenfell - Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession for the purpose of Trafficking (CDSA)
D'Abadie was arrested at the border and was taken into custody with the assistance of the RCMP Killarney detachment in Manitoba. He was then transported to the RCMP detachment in Broadview, SK as part of the investigation. Miljkovic was arrested in Grenfell during the execution of the search warrant.
Both have been remanded in custody and will be appearing in Yorkton Provincial Court on Friday, September 16th at 10:00 am.
Also assisting in this investigation are members from the RCMP Forensic Identifications Unit from Yorkton as well as members from the Regina Integrated Drug Unit, the Yorkton General Investigations Unit, and the Regina Integrated Intelligence Unit.
