SaskEnergy and participating Network Members have teamed up once again to offer the聽Tune-Up Assistance Program (TAP), which supports聽eligible homeowners across the province聽with free home heating equipment maintenance and improved carbon monoxide detection.聽Saskatchewan homeowners with a combined annual income of no more than $68,000 can apply for this program聽from June 14 to October 1, 2021.

鈥淭his program is a great opportunity for SaskEnergy to give back to the customers and communities it serves and supports the people of Saskatchewan in meeting their home energy needs safely and efficiently,鈥 said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy. 鈥淐arbon monoxide poisoning can be life threatening. Building awareness of carbon monoxide safety is an important component to the program.鈥

TAP has been running for five years and since 2017, it has helped close to 1500 homeowners across the province.聽This program also serves as a reminder to all Saskatchewan homeowners about the importance of furnace maintenance, and cleaning or replacing furnace filters every one to two months during the winter heating season.

The program聽provides a one-time offer of up to $300 worth of service and products to each eligible applicant, including a free SaskEnergy Network Home Heating Tune-Up, a carbon monoxide alarm, two furnace filters and up to $100 in repairs if needed.聽Renters and rental properties are not eligible.

鈥淲e are pleased to see TAP has grown significantly over the years. Its popularity shows that our customers value what this program has to offer,鈥 said Samantha Gross, Customer Solutions Leader. 鈥淧roper care of natural gas equipment helps to save future costly repairs and gives homeowners peace of mind that they and their family will be safe going into the heating season.鈥

In 2020, TAP was recognized with the Canadian Gas Association鈥檚 Michael Mulcahy Award for Excellence and Innovation in Customer Care and Service. That year, 731 homeowners in 48 different communities across Saskatchewan accessed the program. In 2021, SaskEnergy aims to continue growing the program to provide quality furnace maintenance to more eligible customers.

Participating communities are selected based on the location of SaskEnergy Network Members who provide the SaskEnergy Network Home Heating Tune-Up service, these include:聽Balgonie, Emerald Park, Esterhazy, Estevan, Eston, Foam Lake, Govan, Gravelbourg, Grenfell, Hague, Hepburn, Hudson Bay, Kindersley, Leader, Lumsden, Melville, Montmarte, Moose Jaw, Nipawin, North Battleford, Paradise Hill, Preeceville, Prince Albert, Regina, Rosetown, Saskatoon, Swift Current, Tisdale, Unity, Wadena, Wakaw, Watrous, Weyburn, and Yorkton.

Eligible applications under the Tune-Up Assistance Program are accepted if located in one of the communities listed or within a 25 kilometer radius.
