The Yorkton Film Festival closed it 2011 call for submissions on Jan 31, 2011. The films have been separated into their categories, and the adjudication process now beginning. The adjudication will conclude in March, and nominees will be announced later that month.
The festival is proud to support 288 films entries from filmmakers stationed across the country.
Particularly for this year, the festival has seen a large number of entries into the Emerging Filmmaker category. Fifty films in the Emerging Filmmaker category make up the largest category in the 2011 festival year. The category may have seen increase in participation due to the sponsorship from the Royal Bank of Canada. The RBC has pledged to support the winner of the Emerging Filmmaker award with a $1,000 cash prize.
The 2011 Festival will take place from May 26 to May 29, 2011. The event will include workshops from industry leaders, film screenings, our trademark LobsterBlast supper, and a gala awards 小蓝视频. This year's festival includes 19 main film categories, ranging from Animation to Student Production. Along with the 19 category awards, the Festival is pleased to once again offer a number of special awards. Submissions that qualify will also be considered for the Ruth Shaw Best of Saskatchewan, Emerging Filmmaker and Aboriginal awards.
