Job seekers from Saskatchewan, across Canada and around the world visited www.saskjobs.ca in droves this January - with good reason.
The site saw 10,183 job postings in January, a 27 per cent increase over last year and the largest January total since 2008. Employers from 278 Saskatchewan communities posted opportunities to the site.
"Workers and employers in every corner of our province are benefitting from the opportunities created by a growing provincial economy," Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris said. "With forecasters calling for Saskatchewan to lead the country in growth this year, there is reason to be optimistic that more quality opportunities are on the way."
Of the 10,183 jobs posted to SaskJobs.ca in January:More than a quarter were in the Trades and Transport category, which continues to show significant demand;SaskJobs hosted a record 869,000 visits in January, its highest monthly total ever and a 22 per cent increase over January 2010. Increases came almost across the board, but were highlighted by a 71 per cent increase in visits from outside Canada.
