Another jump in full-time employment has paved the way to 10 consecutive months of year-over-year overall employment increases in Saskatchewan.

There were 527,200 people employed in Saskatchewan in November 2010 - a record for that month and an overall increase of 5,600 jobs over the same month last year. Saskatchewan's labour force population of 554,200 is also a record for November.

"Saskatchewan's economy continues to create more and better job opportunities than were available last year," Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris said. "As a result of this growth, more people are seeking and finding quality jobs in Saskatchewan."

Saskatchewan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for November was 5.5 per cent, the second lowest in Canada and well below the national rate of 7.6 per cent.

Employment for First Nations and M茅tis peoples in Saskatchewan has continued its upward trend, with a year-over-year increase of 1,700. Importantly, full-time employment was up 6,800 and the private sector contributed an impressive 17,500 jobs year-over-year.

"In November, Saskatchewan employers posted 24 per cent more vacancies to www.saskjobs.ca than they did in the same month last year," Norris said. "Right now, there are more than 6,700 employment opportunities available across province."
