Earth Day Canada is looking to award scholarships, awards and grants to students, individuals, community groups and small businesses across the country.
Their recognition and reward programs work to recognize some of Canada's lesser known environmental leaders.
"There are amazing initiatives supporting the environment happening all across the country," said Jed Goldberg, President of Earth Day Canada. "Each year, we honour these unsung heroes, celebrate their achievements, provide them with funding and ultimately inspire others to take on environmental challenges in their community."The Hometown Heroes Award Program is celebrating local heroics by awarding $10,000 to environmental leaders, including individuals, groups, organizations and small businesses, who foster meaningful, long-term community awareness and action. Heroes must apply by February 28th, 2011.
The Earth Day Canada Community Environment Fund is providing schools and community organizations financial grants of up to $20,000 to support the development and delivery of environmental initiatives in Ontario. Projects must be open to the public and proposals must be postmarked by February 28th, 2011.
The Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program is recognizing youth by awarding twenty $5,000 scholarships to graduating Canadian high school and CEGEP students. Students must be entering their first year of post-secondary studies and apply by January 31st, 2011.
