Two Melville residents were arrested after the Melville/Ituna RCMP Detachmentexecuted asearch warrant on a home on Scotia Street last Monday night.
On December 20, Melville RCMP conducted a CDSA search warrant on a residence in the City of Melville. A 21-year-old male, Jackan Davis,and his22-year-old common-law wife, Kayla Gartner, were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance. Police seized four ounces of cocaine, $5,000.00 in cash, and a small amount of marihuana. In the house at the time of the police raid were two young children who were safely placed with a family member.
Davis was remanded in custody until court on Friday, December 24 in Yorkton for a bail verification.This is the second drug search by the Melville/Ituna RCMP.The other involved the search of a marihuana grow operation in Killaly on December 2. Thirty-one-year-old Stephen Schrader was charged with one count of Production, two counts of Possession, and one count of Trafficking in a controlled substance as a result of that search.
Land title scamThe Yorkton RCMP have received complaints involving callers wanting to purchase property in Yorkton. The caller requests the land title be put under their name before they transfer any money.
RCMP want to remind people who are selling property that land titles should be transferred by a reputable lawyer. Land titles should not be transferred without having a written agreement and at no time should titles for property be transferred before any financing is secured.
