The Saskatchewan Country Music Association is hosting a Songwriter's Circle in Yorkton Saturday.

Murray Yung, SCMA representative said the Circle, which will be held at the ANAVETs Club starting at 7 p.m., is a chance to hear Saskatchewan talent singing their own material.

"It's local artists, members of the SCMA, singing their original songs that they either wrote, or co-wrote," he said.

Yung said the audience will also be given a little look into the inspirations and writing process behind the songs.

Yung explained the artists will introduce their songs with a bit about "what inspired them to write it."

The artists involved are all likely to be familiar to local music fans, as they are from the area, or have performed in the city at other venues in the past.

The list, as of the weekend, includes Blake Berglund from Regina, he grew up near Kennedy, Steve Gibson from Theodore, Amanda Jane Duncan from Weyburn, Miranda Young of Rocanville, and former GX94 Star Search winners Samara Yung and Rayanne Ottenbreit.

Murray Yung said the circle may end up slightly larger as they await confirmation from a couple of other artists.

The night is open to all ages, with a five dollar admission at the door.
