The City of Yorkton will appoint Mike Carpenter as a Class One Building Official. The decision was a unanimous one of Yorkton Council at its regular meeting Monday.

The decision was a unanimous one of Yorkton Council at its regular meeting Monday.

The position will become open with the impending departure of the current Manager of Building Services Maureen Berard.

"Administration believes the appointment of a building official from Professional Buildings Inc. will provide an interim resource for continuance of service to the public during this period for single and two-family dwelling units," stated a report circulated to Council from Administration.

"The City has utilized the services of Professional Inspections Inc. for some time to assist with buildings requiring Class 3 Building Official's license. This company has provided excellent service for the community

"Administration believes that Mike Carpenter, CET, is a suitable candidate to be appointed for a Class One Building Official for the City Carpenter has been with Professional Building Inspections Inc. for a period of four months

"Professional Building Inspections Inc. has indicated that they are prepared to provide as much service as the City requires in order to deal with the anticipated building permits that are received for required renovations due to the necessary repair work from the July 1 flood and as normal construction continues to occur."
