The fares for Yorkton's Dial-A-Bus service are inching up, but only marginally following a unanimous decision of Yorkton Council at its regular meeting last Monday.
The daily fare rates are not changing, with the adult rate for adults and seniors staying at $2.75, and for students at $1.75.
The price of a book of 20 tickets is going up. Adults and seniors will pay $50 in 2011, up one dollar from 2010. The monthly pass rate is also rising one dollar from $55 to $56.
The student fare for a book of 20-tickets is remaining at $23, and a monthly pass at $30.The actual expenses for the service in 2009 were $139, 132, with revenues of $60,978, leaving a loss of $78,153.
The projected loss for 2010 is $76,600, according to material circulated to Council.
Yorkton's Dial-A-Bus service is a unique system where the bus has a route but only goes to the bus stops where riders have requested to either be picked up or dropped off.
