KAMSACK — The Kamsack Flyers U9 Minor Hockey tournament showcased an array of thrilling matchups, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.
The Jan. 13 tournament, which featured teams from Kamsack Flyers, Roblin Stars, Yorkton RH Electric Terriers, Preeceville Pats, and Yorkton Outta Here Travel, witnessed some closely contested battles.
In the opening game, the Roblin Stars faced off against the Kamsack Flyers, resulting in a high-scoring encounter with Roblin emerging victorious by a margin of 11-8. The momentum continued into Game 2, where the Yorkton RH Electric Terriers dominated the Preeceville Pats, securing a decisive 12-1 win.
The host Kamsack Flyers made their first appearance on the ice in Game 3 against Yorkton Outta Here Travel, claiming a hard-fought 9-5 victory. In Game 4, the Roblin Stars faced the Yorkton RH Electric Terriers, with Roblin once again prevailing, this time with a final score of 10-7.
The competition intensified in Game 5, where the Preeceville Pats faced Yorkton Outta Here Travel. However, Yorkton maintained control, securing a 10-3 win. Kamsack Flyers faced off against Yorkton RH Electric Terriers in Game 6, emerging triumphant with a 7-3 victory.
In Game 7, the Preeceville Pats encountered Yorkton Outta Here Travel, but Yorkton continued their winning streak, securing an 8-2 triumph. The tension continued to rise in the B Final between Yorkton Outta Here Travel and Yorkton RH Electric Terriers. After a closely contested match, the RH Electric Terriers emerged as the B side winners in sudden-death overtime with a final score of 7-6.
The ultimate showdown occurred in the A Final, where the Kamsack Flyers clashed with the Roblin Stars. The highly anticipated match unfolded with both teams displaying exceptional skill and determination. After a fierce battle, Kamsack secured victory in sudden-death overtime, winning 5-4 and claiming the coveted A-side championship.
