KAMSACK — Eaglestone Lodge, has new developments enhancing both the aesthetics and accessibility of the facility. Thanks to community support and dedicated staff, the lodge's garden has received significant upgrades, enriching the lives of its residents.
The garden boxes were donated by the Town of Kamsack last year, but the Lodge hasn’t had the chance to set them up until now. Lodge activity coordinator, Annette Purchase said, “This year, with the help of volunteers, board members, and staff, we got the boxes built, filled with soil, and planted with vegetables.”
Donations from local businesses, including Chautauqua Gardens and Grandpa's Garden, supplied the Lodge with tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and cucumbers.
In addition to the garden, new ramps are СÀ¶ÊÓƵ installed at the facility, improving accessibility for residents. The lodge is excited about getting the ramps done, so residents can go out the doors more safely.
Eaglestone Lodge continues to keep residents engaged with a variety of activities. This summer, the Lodge hosted a successful family and friends barbecue featuring live music from local band Rocketbilly. The event was a hit, especially with the residents, who enjoyed the nostalgic rock 'n' roll tunes.
In August, more mobile residents attended the Kamsack Horticultural Show at the Legion Hall, indulging in pie and ice cream while admiring the displays. They also visited the Kamsack Powerhouse Museum, which thoroughly entertained the residents.
Looking ahead, the lodge has an exciting lineup of activities planned for the fall. A magician will perform in September, much to the delight of the residents. Regular entertainment also continues, with Sylvia and Roger’s monthly performances and the Polka Pals providing music for the Lodge’s birthday celebrations.
The Lodge recently secured an activity grant, which Purchase plans to use for more exercise and arts and crafts supplies. “The residents really enjoy their arts and crafts, so we’re always looking for ways to keep them active and engaged,” she said.
