NORQUAY — Lindgren Seeds near Norquay hosted its annual Food Farm event, providing a hands-on educational experience for students from multiple area schools on June 5. The initiative aimed to foster an understanding of agriculture among young learners through interactive learning stations and animal interactions.
The event featured several stations, each designed to teach the children about different aspects of farming. Rotating in groups, the kids explored various topics including farm equipment, soil nutrients, planting, beef production, water management, soil life, farm safety, and crop protection.
Each station offered practical demonstrations and informative discussions, allowing students to gain a comprehensive view of agricultural practices and environments. The soil nutrient station, for example, highlighted the importance of healthy crop growth, while the farm safety station emphasized the precautions necessary to ensure a safe working environment on farms.
Adding to the excitement, the event also brought out a variety of animals for the children to interact with and observe. The lineup included: chickens, ducks, bunnies, ponies, a calf, a horse, and a foal. These interactions provided a unique and sometimes tactile learning experience.
