Three Yorkton cribbage players score 29s with YPL club

Having three members of the Yorkton Cribbage Club manage a 29 is rather remarkable.

YORKTON - If you are a cribbage player you will know the ultimate hand is a 29.

The hand has a player 小蓝视频 dealt and keeping three fives, and the jack of the fourth suit, with the five in the suit 小蓝视频 the cut card.

Checking online the odds are about 650,000 to one.

So to have three members of the Yorkton Cribbage Club manage a 29 is rather remarkable.

Harvey Wegner managed his 29 back in 2018. He estimates he started playing cribbage 65 years ago, and the perfect hand was his first.

“I didn’t even realize I had it,” he said, another player at the table noticing it first.

On March 4, Florence Slywka celebrated her birthday, and the cribbage gods bestowed a rather rare gift on her --- yes she had a 29.

Slywka thinks she started playing cribbage around age 18. Now 85 it was her first 29.

Joyce Muir has been playing the game some 60 years too. Her 29 finally occurred Oct. 20.

The trio, who are among some 20 players gathering Friday afternoon at the Yorkton Public Library recognize the 29s are a rarity, but none shows up weekly to win a lot of games.

“It’s the sociability of it,” said Muir.

“It’s getting together . . . for the laughs and jokes,” added Wegner.
