Strongfield Raising Money for Curling Rink

Upgrades 小蓝视频 sought for beloved community hub

The village of Strongfield isn鈥檛 letting a violent act of Mother Nature earlier this year dictate what its future will look like.

On July 20, a raging storm that rocked the regional area produced powerful winds that tore through the local curling rink, levelling much of it to the ground and hitting the rural community where it hurts.

Now, the village is looking to rebuild its beloved community hub and even make some new additions with the generosity of the giving public.

The building was originally insured for roughly $125,000, which will cover the construction of a new shell and the basic electrical needs, but the community is looking to raise about $75,000 for improvements to the facility that insurance won鈥檛 cover.

These hopeful improvements include putting in walk-ways between the three curling sheets, as well as insulation and tinning the ceiling of the new building.聽 The goal of making these type of upgrades is to make Strongfield鈥檚 curling rink more efficient and perhaps more longer-lasting.

One of the bigger fundraising efforts currently 小蓝视频 organized is a Christmas party at the Strongfield hall on Saturday, December 9, which will feature a silent auction that organizers are still searching for donated items for, along with t-shirt sales going directly towards the cause.

Anyone who is interested in donating to the auction or for more information, contact Amanda Glubis at 306-857-2022.
