On March 4 about 60 people took part in the World Day of Prayer Service held at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Rama.

The 2017 Service was prepared by the women of The Philippines. The Filipino group organized by Star Relatado of Yorkton led the service at St. Anthony's.

The service began with a procession of the symbols of The Philippines beginning with the flag. All the Filipino participants were dressed in their beautiful customary attire, said information from organizers. The welcome greeting "Mabuhay" was introduced to the congregation to which all responded.

An invitation was extended to meditate on this year's theme "Am I Being Unfair to You?"

During the call to worship, the congregation listened to the voices of the Filipino women who聽described in detail their treatment of unfairness. They聽came to the conclusion that the realization of solidarity was their source of strength as well as their pleading to God to hear their cries.

A reading from Matthew 20: 1-16 was done by Melinda Sevilla. Several hymns were sung in the Filipino language. Offerings from the congregation were placed in individual baskets, each signifying the month of their birth.聽All offerings will be sent to The Philippines through the Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada.

In closing, Relatado invited everyone to the parish hall for a luncheon and to join in the fellowship of the Filipino community. A menu of Filipino food was served.

Steve Barteski, on behalf of St. Anthony's Parish, thanked the Filipino group for the 鈥渨onderful and interesting meal.鈥
