Man with heavy equipment and construction experience acquires equipment to allow him to accept jobs

鈥淚鈥檝e operated heavy equipment all my life,鈥 Bryan Mathew said last week from his shop located on several acres of property he owns or tends at Cote Siding, located about eight miles southeast of Kamsack.

Born at Kamsack and raised on a farm in the area, Mathew admits to having听 been able to operate a crawler tractor at age 11 and over the years since has refined his abilities operating heavy equipment.

鈥淏asically, I鈥檝e been in construction management, working on oil field lease roads, highways and oil sands plant sites,鈥 he said. 鈥淚鈥檝e been looking after job sites and have worked as a construction manager and co-ordinator.鈥

Working under the business name of OGS Consulting since 2000, Mathew explained that he has moved back to the area, acquired several new pieces of equipment and is prepared to continue his work here rather than commuting to sites in Alberta, as he has been doing for the past several years.

Although Mathew has been working in Alberta since 1986, he has worked on jobs 鈥渇rom coast to coast to coast,鈥 including 小蓝视频 an equipment operator and 小蓝视频 a lead hand on road and air strip construction at Diavik Mine in the Northwest Territory; an equipment operator at a lead and copper mine at Faro, Yukon; worked at a gold mine at Wrangle, Alaska, and has worked in the oil fields at Grand Cache, Alta.

鈥淚鈥檓 prepared to do the middle-sized jobs,鈥 he said, explaining that a large company would be hired to do major work, and smaller operations with smaller equipment would be best equipped
to do smaller jobs.

鈥淚鈥檝e been doing culverts, roads and ditches,鈥 he said, adding that his mediumsized equipment allows him access to spaces where larger, heavy equipment would not be able to go.

Included in Mathew鈥檚 inventory of all new equipment are: a Kubota compact excavator which allows him to dig trenches for water and sewer lines, dig basements and install septic tanks; a
Yanmar 3100 tractor with a loader, backhoe and tiller that is used for landscaping projects; a 30-foot, 24,000-pound flatbed gooseneck trailer; a tri-axle dump trailer and a snow blower.

Working in the heavy equipment industry for many years, Mathew has acquired Bryan Mathew of Cote Siding has acquired several pieces of equipment which allows him to do a variety of earth moving and landscaping jobs. He was photographed with the equipment last week on the site of his new shop.

Among the new equipment that Bryan Mathew has acquired to allow him to work under the name OGS consulting is this Kubota compact excavator. a variety of certifi cation and expertise, including: core certification; ground disturbance tickets; first aid; TGD (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) certifi cation and WHIMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems) credentials.

He is registered as a general contractor with the Province of Saskatchewan and has a licence to conduct business within the Town of Kamsack.

鈥淚鈥檓 prepared to do jobs everywhere in the area,鈥 he said, adding that one need only contact him for a free estimate.

In the process of constructing a new shop for his equipment, Mathew says that when not busy at work he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including travelling the countryside on his recreation vehicles, boating and snowmobiling.
