A project near and dear to the hearts of those with the Conquest Fire Department has been able to move forward significantly with the cooperating spring weather.
Last week, the cement was poured for what will eventually be an extension onto the existing hall, which was built back in the 1970’s. The upgrade is СÀ¶ÊÓƵ done in order to increase space in the hall due to the rise in equipment numbers over the years and carries a price tag of roughly $40,000 for materials, with firefighters providing the labour.
Fundraising has been done since the project was announced a year ago in order to prevent as much impact to local ratepayers as possible. At a New Year’s Eve event at the Conquest rink held by the fire crew, it was announced that approximately $26,000 had already been raised by the end of 2019.
It’s unknown whether there is a firm completion date for the hall addition, but previous talks indicated that the target date was Canada Day on July 1.
Perhaps appropriately, the upgrade is СÀ¶ÊÓƵ called, ‘The Legacy Project’.
