CANORA - After 35 years of service to patients in Canora and the surrounding area, Dr. Ivan Rostotski has been recognized with a special award from the Chiropractors Association of Saskatchewan.
With his Norway Road office that has become a regular stop for many, Rostotski credits his father, Dr. Michael Rostotski, Sr., also a chiropractor, for helping make the career choice.
“Since my father was a chiropractor, it was something I always thought about as a career,” said Ivan. “With exposure to different things in university, it was often in the back of my mind as I explored other careers.”
The younger Rostotski was born in Yorkton and raised in Canora. Since he lived in an area with many outdoor recreation opportunities, it’s not surprising that his main areas of interest growing up were of a cross-country nature; both running and skiing. He also recognized the importance of continuing his education after high school.
“I attended the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1985 with a bachelor of arts, majoring in biology with a minor in Slavic studies.”
Not everyone is familiar with what chiropractors do, but Dr. Rostotski said it’s an important and rewarding field.
“We are doctors that deal with alignment of the spine and extremities. We are also very knowledgeable on nutrition and exercise,” he said.
“I do enjoy helping people with their skeletal ailments and meeting new people.”
According to the CAS website:
“Chiropractors make a tangible difference in people’s lives by helping them restore mobility and giving them back the ability to do the simple things that once were hindered by pain (putting on your socks, picking up children, walking, doing up a seatbelt, picking up something off of the floor).
“Chiropractic care can:
- Provide relief from headaches
- Provide relief from neck and back pain
- Improve movement and function in your neck, shoulders, back, torso and extremities
- Improve your posture
- Improve range of motion and flexibility
- Correct gait and foot problems
- Lead to enhanced athletic performance
Dr. Rostotski said he has spent his entire working career based in Canora, “with having satellite offices in Rose Valley, Watson and briefly in Norquay.”
He said for the most part, his patients come from within about a 40-mile radius of Canora.
“After 35 years, I still enjoy helping people to try and live their fullest life possible.”
