Canora/Sturgis RCMP activity report

Recent calls to the Canora/Sturgis RCMP have included: a vehicle colliding with a power pole, a vehicle and grass fire, as well as a vehicle swerving all over Highway No. 9 on the way to Canora which upon further investigation turned out to be a driver who was having trouble staying awake.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 22 calls from October 21 to October 28, some of which included: four provincial traffic offences, one impaired, five other provincial statutes, one theft, one mischief, and five other incidents.

Difficult to agree

On October 22, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called and asked to intervene with an ongoing civil dispute in Canora over a modem. Police provided advice to both parties involved on how to mediate the issue themselves. 

Accidental 911 call

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded on October 22 to a report of a 911 hang-up at a business in Canora. Police want to remind the public that if 911 is accidently called when attempting to dial 9 + 1 + area code + phone number to reach an outside line or features on your cell phone, this will automatically call 911. If this happens, please do not hang up in a panic. Please talk to the 911 dispatcher and provide information on the accidental dial, as this information can prevent police, ambulance, and fire from responding to a non-emergency.

Vehicle fire on grass

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a vehicle and grass fire by Lady Lake on October 23. Police continue to investigate the fire complaint with the assistance of the Sturgis Fire Department.

Get some sleep

On October 23, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a complaint of a vehicle swerving in the northbound lane on Highway No. 9, travelling towards Canora. Police located the vehicle parked in Canora. The driver admitted to be 小蓝视频 tired and was going to take a nap before continuing on.

Power pole collision

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision with a power pole and building in Canora on October 27. The driver sustained injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Police continue to investigate the collision.
