The U15 Highway 9 Predators, with players from numerous area communities, led from start to finish in a 7-4 win over Yorkton Terriers at the Canora Civic Centre on Jan. 15.

CANORA - The U15 Highway 9 Predators, with players from numerous area communities, never trailed and defeated the Yorkton Terriers 7-4 at the Canora Civic Centre on Jan. 15.

Preds opened the scoring on a goal by Lise Nokinsky of Norquay, assisted by Caden Doogan of Canora. Siloh Leson followed with his first of three goals on the evening by tipping in a point shot by Boston Smith of Preeceville, giving the Preds a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.

The second period was dead even in shots on goal at 11 each, but the Preds scored four out of the six goals to grab a 6-2 lead after 40 minutes. In addition to a pair by Shiloh Leson, other Preds goal scorers were Seth Symak of Kamsack and Boston Smith.

In the final period, the Preds ran into some penalty trouble and Yorkton closed the gap to 6-4. But a late goal by Ethan Balawyder of Preeceville ended any thought of a Yorkton comeback.
