CANORA/STURGIS — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 79 calls from December 16 to January 6, some of which included: five traffic accidents, 18 provincial traffic offences, 11 other provincial statutes, six 911 Act incidents, one break and enter, four assaults, two impaired driving, four mischiefs, two frauds, two thefts, four threats and 20 other incidents.
Gas tank tampering
On December 18, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of sugar 小蓝视频 found in the gas tank of a snowmobile in Canora. Police continue to investigate. Not ready to leave
A resident of Canora called the Canora/Sturgis RCMP on December 20 requesting police assist him with having his ex-girlfriend removed from his residence. Police attended and assisted the ex-girlfriend with finding alternative housing.
Gas isn’t free
A gas and dash in Preeceville was reported to the Canora/Sturgis RCMP on December 22. Police located the suspects and payment for the gasoline was made.
Unwanted farm visit
On December 23, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to an abandoned farm in the RM of Keys for a report of a possible break and enter. Police continue to investigate.
Christmas spirit?
The Canora RCMP Detachment received a complaint on December 23 from a resident of Canora requesting Police check a suspicious parcel that was delivered to her home. Police attended and determined the parcel was a Christmas gift from the complainant’s granddaughter.
911 is not a toy
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were notified of a 911 hang-up call from an unregistered cell phone in Endeavour on December 24. A child and adult were heard in the background. Police attended and did several neighbourhood inquiries but could not locate the origin of the call. Please be mindful when letting your children play with old cell phones as these unregistered cell phones still have the ability to call 911. If you or your child accidently calls 911, please do not hang up the phone and speak with the 911 operator.
Christmas Eve road trip
On December 24, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a red Angus bull on Highway No. 9 north of Usherville. The owner was contacted and he rounded up his bull.
Canora house fire
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a house fire in Canora on December 28. Police assisted the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, Canora Fire Department, and Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency with the investigation. The cause of the fire is not suspicious.
Dangerous cold
On December 30, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP assisted EMS in Preeceville with a male found in a severe hypothermic state. The male was transported by EMS to the hospital.
Theft and assault
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded on January 3 to a complaint of an assault in Canora. Investigation determined a Hello Fresh food parcel was stolen from the complainant by someone known to him. The complainant spoke with the thief who became violent and assaulted him. Police continue to investigate.
Hot Cheetos
On January 3, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a chip truck on fire at the Co-op Gas Bar in Canora. Investigation determined a propane heater in the truck ignited the Cheetos. The fire was extinguished prior to police and the Canora Fire Department attending.
Tragic incident
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on January 4 to a report of a semi in the ditch on Highway No. 5, west of Buchanan. Investigation determined that the driver of the semi suffered a medical emergency and drove into the ditch. Canora/Sturgis RCMP, EMS, and local fire personnel responded. The male driver of the semi was pronounced deceased at the scene. His family has been notified.
Shed fire
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at the Donald Gunn subdivision at Good Spirit Provincial Park on January 4. Canora/Sturgis RCMP and the Canora Fire Department attended and found a shed to be on fire. The fire was extinguished and the cause of the fire was determined not to be suspicious.
