The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 74 calls from October 28 to November 4, some of which included: 38 provincial traffic offences, seven other provincial statutes, three harassments/threats, four assaults, two frauds, two break and enters, one theft, and four other incidents.
Two against one
On October 28, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to an assault complaint in Preeceville. Police attended and determined that a female was assaulted by a male and another female. Police continue to investigate.
Public intoxication
Canora/Sturgis RCMP members located an intoxicated female, staggering outside of the Canora Detachment on October 30 with a bottle of liquor in her hand. The female was arrested for public intoxication and lodged in cells until sober.
911 is not a game
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint in Canora for a 911 hang-up call on October 31. Police attended and determined that a three-year-old was playing with the phone and had pushed the emergency button.
Break-in and theft
On November 1, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a break and enter to a residence in the RM of Clayton, north of Stenen. Numerous items were stolen including tools and lumber.
Fishy fence fire
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to a suspicious fence fire on Poplar Avenue in Canora on November 2. Police continue to investigate the fire. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Canora RCMP or you can also report anonymously via Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
Sweet dreams
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on November 3 to assist with removing an intoxicated and unruly occupant in a home in Canora. Police attended and located the male sleeping in his bed. No further police intervention was required and the male was left to sleep.
Mystery intruder
On November 3, a resident of Canora returned to their home to find it unlocked with the sounds of someone walking around in the basement. Police immediately attended and cleared the residence without finding anyone or anything inside the home. The origin of the mysterious noises is still unknown.
