CANORA — As 2021 rapidly draws to a close, Canora’s Keen Age Centre has been busy with events promoting fun and fellowship.
On November 29, a farewell coffee party was held for John Fehr, a long-time active member. The farewell was hosted by Rae Duncalfe, Fehr’s daughter. In addition to nine members of the Fehr family, six Keen Age members were present. Pictures were taken by Edith Kotzer, Keen Age President.
The Keen Age Christmas supper as held on December 12, with 39 persons in attendance. Birthdays from October, November and December were recognized and celebrated.
Happy Birthday was sung to the birthday celebrants.
“Several Christmas carols were sung while waiting for the supper to arrive,” said Kotzer. “Thank you to Leo Rakochy and Charlie Rudachyk for bringing the food from Wong’s who catered to our supper. Thank you to Lorraine Katelnikoff who said Grace before our meal. Thank you to Evelyn Dergousoff, Donna Cornelius and Bernice Rakochy for helping out in the kitchen, and to anyone else who helped. Thank you also to Joe Middlemas who checked for vaccination proof at the door. All wore masks except to eat.”
The Christmas supper included numerous door prizes. Lucille Dergousoff won the First Aid Kit donated by Community Insurance, which also donated several other smaller prizes. Leo Rakochy won the grille donated by Gateway Co-op; Russell Yasinowski, the poinsettia donated by Carnation St. Florals; Anne Yasinowski, the poinsettia donated by The Flower Mill; Bernice Rakochy and Delmar Mattison, gift certificates from Wong’s Café; Donna Cornelius, the soda bottle donated by Home Hardware, and Dianne Manahan won the box of treats from Wong’s. Several smaller prizes were donated by the Keen Age Centre.
“Thank you to Charlie Rudachyk for 小蓝视频 the ‘gopher’ and handing out the prizes, and thank you to all the donors,” said Kotzer.
Other activities available at the Keen Age Centre are whist at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoons for anyone who likes to play cards, and shuffleboard at 1 p.m. on Fridays. Teams have been drawn for shuffleboard, but spares are usually needed for those who can’t make it. The Keen Age Centre only asks for a dollar admission and that includes coffee and goodies brought by members. “We would like to see more persons come out,” concluded Kotzer.
