INVERMAY - April was an exciting and very busy month for Invermay School!
Everyone at school had the fortunate opportunity to audition for Blackbeard The Pirate directed by the Missoula Children’s Theatre. Two directors, Emily Shafritz and Lizzie Bowman, came to our school to help direct a whole play in the span of only five days. There were 60 different roles that had many different ages involved. The roles consisted of beach bums, pirates, mermaids, sailors, seaweed creatures, parrots, and assistant directors. The cast worked tirelessly the whole week and were dedicated to their roles!
One of our Invermay School students, Cassandra Ponte, has been accepted into the Seeing Possibilities and Rewards in Computer Science workshop at the University of Waterloo, held from May 12-17. Everyone is so excited for her and this journey. Cassandra has fundraised from a grilled cheese sale, and a candy jar guess. Invermay School wishes her all the best!
Invermay School has been very proud of their junior and senior badminton players. The 6/7 badminton team had a short but amazing season while having one tournament booked but due to the STF dispute it was canceled. They had many practices and were even ready for next year!
Our 8/9 badminton team was very successful but had their season cut short as well. They had no tournaments but competed in districts. We had four students advance to districts: Taelynn Maier in girls singles; Angelo Ferenal in boys singles, and Cassidy Bosovich and Jasmin Kowalyshyn playing girls doubles. Taelynn and Angelo sadly lost out in round robin but played their best games yet!
Cassidy and Jasmin ended up first in their pool and then went to play in the playoffs. They lost out in the bronze medal match but still played great and had amazing teamwork.
The senior badminton team took four students to districts. Aron Cudal for boys singles, Bailey Maier for girls singles, and Clouie Cabungcal and Rachel Enge with girls doubles. Bailey, Clouie and Rachel played some great games but came out short in the end. Aron placed second in his pool and made it to the playoffs. Aron fought hard and made it to the gold medal match. He beat his opponent and won gold to advance to regionals.
