Invermay School News: Lots going on for everyone

February was filled with tons of fun for all the students as well as lots of community involvement

INVERMAY - February was a short but productive month for Invermay School!

The month was filled with tons of fun for all the students as well as lots of community involvement. Students and staff were busy wrapping things up before the winter break.

Invermay hosted its annual Winter Festival on Feb. 9 and 10. The Invermay School SRC, as well as a few other students, volunteered to sell 50/50 tickets as well as holding a toonie toss during the Friday night hockey game and did face painting and hosted a fish pond on Saturday.

On Feb. 14, the SRC hosted a formal day as well as a school-wide dance during lunch. Despite all the strikes going on, SRC wanted to host a small activity for students and even staff to enjoy!

Feb. 11-17 was Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. Invermay School took a day to appreciate the staff with the SRC providing them with a free Subway lunch along with cake, and all the students signed a card to show our appreciation. Even though this week was designated to appreciate the teachers and staff, we should always take the time to say “Thank you.”

On Feb. 16, Invermay School had its annual TeleMiracle carnival and barbecue for TeleMiracle 48. There were many amazing games, and the students had a blast with them all! Each student was able to get a burger and a float for all a good cause. The students could even put their name in a draw to try and win a prize. The afternoon was filled with joy from everyone! Invermay School and the community were very successful, and raised $1,970 to send to Telemiracle 48!

February was definitely long awaited for the Grade 1 and 2 students. The 100th day of school fell on Feb. 15. The Grade 1 and 2 classes had a fun-filled day with many activities involving 100!
