Anyone who regularly makes the drive along Hwy No. 229 to Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park should notice a welcome change.
Saskatchewan Highway's Minister Fred Bradshaw has announced the completion of a $12.9 million road improvement project in the Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park area, which was made official with a ribbon cutting at the entrance to the Park on October 29.
"Through our provincial stimulus package, we are investing in improvements to highways that lead to our many beautiful parks," Bradshaw said. “This project will provide new and improved access to Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park, including improved parking.”
"Good Spirit Lake is absolutely a provincial treasure," said Terry Dennis, Canora-Pelly 小蓝视频, who acted as host for the 小蓝视频. "These improvements will ensure people can enjoy camping, hiking, boating and fishing for generations to come."
The project includes 23 km of paving on Highway No. 229 from the junctions of Highway 47 and Highway 9 to Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park. It also included about $750,000 of paving on various roadways, pathways and parking areas in the park.
Reeve Dave Popowich of the RM of Good Lake expressed his appreciation for the improvements created by the project, adding that, “It will make for much easier access for First Responders when they’re called to the Park, including: Canora Fire Brigade, Aspen Paramedic Services of Canora, and the Canora RCMP Detachment.”
Yorkton-based Potzus Paving was the general contractor with engineering 小蓝视频 provided by Wood Environment and Infrastructure Solutions.
