Christine Tassan et les Imposteures will be in Canora on Oct. 18 to share their unique brand of Gypsy jazz and revisited cover songs.

CANORA - The Stars for Saskatchewan Concert Series presented by the Canora Arts Council is set for another exciting season of musical entertainment, with three concerts planned over the next several months.
Kicking off the new season will be a concert by Christine Tassan et les Imposteures at Canora Composite School on Oct. 18. With a decade-and-a-half of performing their special blend of Gypsy jazz and revisited cover songs, the group members have made a name for themselves on the music scene, according to an Arts Council release.
The latest show of these four exquisitely talented musicians brings together some of the best works by Django Reinhardt, Felix Leclerq, and American swing composers. With a singular mix of virtuousity, dancing and humour, the string band draws inspiration from one artist's poetry and the other's swing to weave a rich new musical universe.
They've expanded their concept to the wonderful swing music of some contemporary "friends" of Django and Felix. They revisit the songs created by George Gershwin, Louis Prima or Charlie Chaplin and blend them nicely with Django's beautiful melodies, concluded the release.
The second concert of the season on Nov. 8 will feature Twin Flames, a duo whose music honours their ancestors' history and indigenous backgrounds with a unique brand of contemporary folk music.
The final concert of the season is set for May 11 with the Derina Harvey Band set to take to the stage. Band members are known for their new original music mixed with traditional folk songs, all presented with humour and skillful storytelling.
