CANORA - On Nov. 9 at 11 a.m., the students and staff of Canora Composite School and Canora Junior Elementary School showed their support during a 小蓝视频 to respect the fallen soldiers who died in the First World War. After two years of 小蓝视频 restricted to watching video from Remembrance Day ceremonies due to the pandemic, the assembly made a return this year.
Past traditions returned such as the Grade 6 students siting Little Poppy and the CJES student choir showing respect to the fallen soldiers through song. One thing that was a bit different was the standing up and listening to God Save the King, which was changed from God Save the Queen after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September. To show support for the day, students and staff from both schools wore poppies on their shirts and sweaters. Staff and members of the SRC called the event a success. It was a real moment to showcase the tribute that needs to be given to soldiers who fought for Canada.
The Canora Composite School senior boys volleyball team managed to come out victorious during the recent conference tournament in Hudson Bay, finishing in first place overall. Each team member was presented a gold medal as a result of the victory. The team will now advance to the final regional playoff round. The win came two weeks after the season ended for the CCS junior girls volleyball team.
Team members who appeared at the tournament included: Lucas Latham, Hunter Lamb, Bronson Heshka, Logan Lewchuk, Jackson Krotenko, Toby Olynyk, Nate Wolos, Porter Wolkowski, Everett Paley and Ally Rock, coach.
