CCS runners made up exactly half of the field in the U16 boys 4km race. Andrew Sliva finished third in a time of 17:32, just ahead of Ty Lemaigre in fourth at 17:42. Henry Craig placed fifth in 18:01 and Pierre Rollin completed the race in eighth at 21:05.
In the Over 16 boys 5km event, in a field of eight athletes, Jack Craig ran a personal best time of 23 minutes even and placed fifth.
“There are always more participants at this race, which tends to make our runners push themselves a little more,” reported CCS coaches Leona Kitchen and Thomas Lowes. “As you can see, there were more personal bests achieved in this competition. It was also the first race of the season for our U16 and Over 16 boys. This helped them set a goal for what they want to achieve leading up to districts and provincials.”
Canora Composite School runners were looking for continued improvement at districts, which were to be held on Oct. 11 at Carlton Trail Regional Park south of Langenburg.
