CANORA - Canora Composite School was well represented at Cross Country Provincials in Humboldt on October 16, with seven student athletes competing, reported coaches Leona Kitchen and Thomas Lowes. When it was all said and done, Canora finished a solid second in the 2A school team category, which involves schools with 41 to 85 eligible students.
“After having a year off due to extra-curricular restrictions, we were afraid that our numbers would be down and it would take a little more work to get the runners to their fullest potential,” said the coaches.
“But as always, our athletes rose to the challenge! The great part about taking a team to Provincials is that the runners can be rewarded for their hard work in the team category. This year they are the silver medalists. This is a very deserving team and we are extremely proud of their dedication, perseverance, and hard work!
At provincials, in the junior boys 4km race: Hunter Lamb finished 11th out of 80 runners with a time of 15 minutes, 59 seconds. Cole Marcinkoski placed 25th with a time of 17 minutes even, followed by Porter Wolkowski in 30th at 17:46 and Jack Craig in 64th at 20:09.
