Canora/Sturgis RCMP Report: Neighbours feud over snow dumping

RCMP were dispatched to a report of neighbours in Canora feuding over snow. It was alleged one neighbour was pushing snow onto the other neighbour鈥檚 driveway at night and pouring water on it to turn it to ice.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 32 calls from Dec. 2 to Dec. 8, including a motor vehicle collision on Highway No. 5 east of Canora. An SUV lost control on snow and ice and then drove into the ditch. The driver and passenger in the vehicle were OK and only a tow was required.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 32 calls from Dec. 2 to Dec. 8, some of which included: one 911 Act call, one assault, two assaults with a weapon, one Coroners Act call, one Child Welfare Act call, two mischiefs, one suspicious person, one theft, 10 traffic offences, one traffic collision, seven other provincial calls, and two well小蓝视频 checks.

Fight over alcohol

On Dec. 2, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a disturbance involving three people fighting inside a residence in Canora. Police went to the home and learned an intoxicated female started an argument over alcohol, which led to a physical altercation with two others. The female then broke windows in the home and left the residence.

Brawl in Preeceville

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated an assault complaint on Dec. 3 involving numerous youths fighting in Preeceville. One youth received injuries to the face and had to be taken to hospital. Police continue to investigate.

Could have been much worse

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway No. 5 east of Canora on Dec. 5. Police attended the scene and learned an SUV lost control on snow and ice and then drove into the ditch. The driver and passenger in the vehicle were OK and only a tow was required.

Executing medical order

On Dec. 5, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a Community Treatment Order under the Mental Health Services Act to apprehend an individual requiring medical treatment. Police located the subject and took them to the hospital.

Snow feud

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on Dec. 6 to a report of neighbours in Canora feuding over snow, yet again. It was alleged one neighbour was pushing snow onto the other neighbour’s driveway at night and pouring water on it to turn it to ice. 

Child endangerment

On Dec. 7, a woman from Brandon attended Yorkton Provincial Court and pled guilty to assault with a weapon, impaired driving, and child endangerment, and was sentenced to nine months in jail. The charges were from an incident that occurred on June 29, when Canora/Sturgis RCMP members were dispatched to a complaint of an SUV ramming a car on Norway Road in Canora. Police arrested the woman on scene and she was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine. A one-year-old child was located in the front passenger seat of the vehicle she was driving.
