CANORA/STURGIS — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 68 calls from May 19 to May 26, some of which included: two 911 Act calls, two assaults, one assault with a weapon, six mischiefs, one theft, three Mental Health Act calls, four false alarms, one missing person, one break-and-enter, one theft, and 55 traffic offenses.
Road safety
Between May 17 and May 23 the Canora RCMP Detachment and Yorkton Traffic Services issued a total of 46 traffic tickets during Canada Road Safety Week, a nationally-driven traffic enforcement initiative focusing on impaired driving, distracted driving, seatbelt misuse, speeding, and aggressive driving.
Liqour store incident
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on May 19 of a shoplifter at a liquor vendor in Sturgis. The suspect is known to police and the investigation continues.
Assault, weapons
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of an assault in the Canora area on May 20. Police investigated the complaint and two individuals were arrested and charged with assault. As part of the investigation, police obtained a search warrant for a residence and seized several firearms.
Semi battery theft

Park shenanigans
The Canora RCMP received a call on May 23 reporting a group of girls were causing a disturbance at a park by yelling, hollering, and whooping it up. Police located the girls and they were told to go home.
Hot assault
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of an assault in Canora on May 24. Police were informed by the complainant that an agitated female entered a business and threw a cup of hot coffee at them. Police continue to investigate.
Intoxicated assault
On May 24, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance in Buchanan. The complainant reported an intoxicated male was attempting to assault him and required police assistance. Police attended and arrested the male for assault. No criminal charges were laid and the male was later released from police custody.
Copper caper
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report on May 25 of copper 小蓝视频 stolen in the Buchanan area. Police are requesting assistance from anyone who has any information about this incident.
Vape shop heist attempt
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a break-and-enter attempt at the Canora Vape Shop on May 26. The front door window cover was pried open but entry into the building was not made. Knife threat
On May 26, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a female reporting she was threatened with a knife. The incident occurred east of Kamsack. Canora RCMP are assisting the Kamsack RCMP with the investigation.
