The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 30 calls from March 24 to March 31, some of which included: two traffic collisions, one 911 Act, three Mental Health Act, one break and enter, two failing to comply with conditions, two criminal harassments, five traffic offences, two false alarms, two impaired operations, three mischiefs and one animal call.
Possible break and enter
On March 23, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a suspected break and enter at a vacant rental property in Canora. The complainant observed a light on inside the residence with a single set of foot prints leading to the home. Police found the house to be locked and secured. A search inside the residence found no evidence of any recent human activity. The mystery continues.
Missing youth located
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint on March 25 of a missing youth in the RM of Buchanan. Police searched the grid roads and later located the youth in Preeceville after a tip from the public was received.
Impaired driver dumps vehicle
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a report of an impaired driver in the Canora area on March 26. Patrols were made and the suspect vehicle was found abandoned in a Canora parking lot.
Rollover investigated
On March 26, a single vehicle rollover was reported to the Canora/Sturgis RCMP. The collision occurred on grid 662 north of Stenen. No injuries were reported. Police continue to investigate.
Mad at the mail?
Canada Post reported mischief to the lobby area of the Canora Post Office on March 28. Post office boxes were damaged and eggs were thrown inside the building. All over the road
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on March 28 to an impaired driving complaint north of Canora on Highway No. 9. The GMC SUV was described as driving all over the road and had almost hit the complainant. Police made patrols but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect vehicle.
Another light post hit
On March 29, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a collision in the Gateway Co-op parking lot in Canora. Police attended and determined a vehicle struck a light post in the parking lot, again.
911 hang-up
On March 29, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a 911 hang-up in the RM of Preeceville. Police followed up and learned kids were playing around on a phone and there was no emergency.
