The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 25 calls from February 24 to March 3, including a complaint regarding hurtful online comments.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 25 calls from February 24 to March 3, some of which included: one theft, one Firearms Act, one harassing communications, 13 traffic offences, one false alarm, one fraud, and seven other incidents.

Nova Scotia arrest for Canora

On February 24, Ryan MacDonald, from Colchester County, Nova Scotia, was arrested by members of the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit on an outstanding warrant of arrest for sexual assault from the Canora/Sturgis RCMP. MacDonald was on conditions not to leave Saskatchewan, however he fled the province prior to his sexual assault trial in April 2021. With the assistance of the Regina Provost Unit, MacDonald was returned to Saskatchewan and he appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court on March 1.

Welfare check

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on February 25 to conduct a welfare check on an individual living in Canora. Prior to police attending the call the complainant called back advising the subject police were to check on was fine and further police assistance was no longer required.

Not helpful

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a phone message from a complainant in Canora on February 28 who told police his ex-girlfriend cancelled his cell phone and was requesting police do something about it. The complainant left a call back number in the message, however, when police tried to call the complainant back it was learned the complainant left the phone number for his cancelled cell phone.

Online issues

On March 1, the Canora/Sturgis received a complaint about online comments 小蓝视频 made on Facebook about the complainant. Police called the complainant and provided advice and guidance on how to deal with the comments as the matter was over a civil dispute.
