CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 29 calls from Oct. 31 to Nov. 6, some of which included:
- two 911 Act calls,
- one abandoned vehicle,
- one animal complaint,
- two assaults,
- one assault with a weapon,
- one Fire Prevention Act call,
- four frauds,
- one harassing communications,
- two Mental Health Act calls,
- three mischiefs,
- one public nudity,
- two suspicious persons,
- six traffic offenses,
- two vehicle collisions,
- one wellСÀ¶ÊÓƵ check, and
- two prisoners.
That’s not what scissors are for
On Nov. 1, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a disturbance in the RM of Preeceville. Police attended the scene and learned a woman tried to stab a man with a pair of scissors. Police arrested an intoxicated woman on scene for assault with a weapon. The woman was held in custody and released on conditions to have no contact with the man.
Intoxicated and not welcome
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a disturbance call in Canora on Nov. 1. Police attended the scene and learned a man was intoxicated and was not wanted at the residence by the homeowner. The man was arrested for mischief and later released without charge.
Intoxicated driver caught
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report on Nov. 1 of a possible impaired driver travelling from Yorkton to Canora on Highway 9. Police located and stopped the suspect vehicle. The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The driver provided breath samples of 250mg% and 240mg% which is over three times the legal limit. The driver’s vehicle was seized for 60 days and their drivers’ licence was suspended.
Good to have friends
On Nov. 1, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received call about an unwanted intoxicated man at a residence in Canora. Police attended the residence and mediated a minor dispute. The man was released to a sober friend.
Sibling dispute
On Nov. 2, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP a youth called 911 reporting her brother was hitting her. Police attended the scene and mediated the dispute with the assistance of the sibling’s parents.
Patient search for family
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP assisted the Regina General Hospital to locate family members for a patient on Nov. 2. Police determined there was no family in the area.
