Canora RCMP: Same suspect involved in multiple altercations

RCMP were dispatched to an assault call in Preeceville. A second call was received shortly after reporting the same person was involved in another physical altercation at a separate location.

Canora/Sturgis RCMP also dealt with the theft of a firearm, a stolen horse trailer and a residential disturbance.

CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 27 calls from April 4 to April 11, some of which included:

  • one 911 Act call,
  • four assaults,
  • three failures to comply with probation,
  • one false alarm,
  • one lost and found,
  • one Liquor Act call,
  • two Mental Health Act calls,
  • two other provincial calls,
  • one suspicious person,
  • two sexual assaults,
  • one taking motor vehicle without consent,
  • seven traffic offenses,
  • one traffic collision, and
  • one prisoner.

Multiple clashes

On April 4, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to an assault call in Preeceville. A second call was received shortly after reporting the same person was involved in another physical altercation at a separate location in Preeceville. Police continue to investigate.

Break-in, multiple charges

The Canora RCMP investigated a weapons complaint on April 5. Police learned a youth had broken into a residence and stolen a firearm and other items. The male youth was charged with break and enter, possession of a firearm while prohibited, unauthorized possession of a firearm, weapons possession, and failing to comply with a youth probation order. The youth was taken into custody.

Intoxicated and confused

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a call on April 6 from a woman who reported she had lost her way in Preeceville. The woman, who was intoxicated, later found her way home with the assistance of her family.

Trailer stolen

On April 6, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report of a stolen horse trailer in the RM of Preeceville. Police continue to investigate.

Domestic incident

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on April 6 to a residence in Canora after a 911 call was made reporting a disturbance inside a residence. Police investigated and learned a woman had been assaulted. A man was arrested for multiple counts of assault and remanded into custody.

Residential disturbance

A man appeared in Canora Provincial Court on April 10 and pled guilty to assault with a weapon and resisting arrest. The man had been charged with assault with a weapon, resisting arrest and mischief after police were called to a disturbance inside a Canora residence on Feb. 10. The man was sentenced to 9.5 months of custody and 18 months probation.

Neuman search goes on

Canora RCMP continue to search for William “Michael” Neuman and are asking for residents in the Canora area to check their properties, including outbuildings, and fields, for any sign of William “Michael” Neuman, or any item that seems out of place. Neuman was first reported missing on Dec. 20, 2023. The last time someone saw him was Dec. 5.
