Canora archery club presents awards to worthy members

Assiniboine River Archery Club recognizes Lilly Frost and Andrew Owchar for their outstanding efforts during the past season.

CAORA- Each year the Assiniboine River Archery Club presents two awards to two deserving members. This year’s presentations took place at the Club’s 3D shoot on Aug. 13 at the Doug and Debbie Lapitsky farm near Canora.

The Travis Sleeva Memorial Award and the Colleen Tiechko Memorial Award are presented to one male and one female member that display a love of archery, dedication and good sportsmanship, according to Desiree Owchar, president. This year’s Colleen Tiechko Memorial Award winner is Lilly Frost.

“Lilly has been in archery for one year,” said Owchar. “She is a quiet, respectful individual that displays a positive attitude and will make an excellent role model to upcoming archers. She is consistently improving and is always willing to lend a hand. Congratulations Lilly!”

Owchar presented the Travis Sleeva Memorial Award to Andrew Owchar.

“Andrew has been a member of our club for 10 years,” she said. “He is a very dedicated archer who placed first in indoor target provincials in Prince Albert this spring and also placed first in the outdoor 3D archery provincials held recently in Veregin.

“Andrew is the current provincial record holder for U18 outdoor 3D. He dedicates many hours each week to practicing and improving his skills. He has also dedicated many hours to our new 3D archery site to help make it what it is today. Congratulations Andrew.”
