Canora and area residents come together for annual perogy lunch

An estimated 130 hungry visitors enjoyed the Perogy Lunch at St. Andrews United Church.

CANORA - As part of the Canora in Bloom festivities, the St. Andrews United Church hosted its popular Perogy Lunch on July 9. Church representatives report an attendance of around 130, slightly less than last year, adding, “It may because of the hot weather with some deciding to stay at home in the air conditioning. But we were happy with the turnout.”

Kitchen workers cooked up 119 dozen perogies, and only had a handful left. They also had 26 dozen tarts brought in for the meal, and were “grateful for the support from the community.”
