INVERMAY- Invermay celebrated Canada Day “with a lovely 10 a.m. parade on July 1 under the direction of Tracey Peshko,” reported Mike Kaminski, Invermay Golden Age Club President.
The parade, led by the Invermay Fire Department, started at the curling rink and continued downtown, to the nursing home and west on Fourth Avenue to First Avenue. Parade participants travelled to downtown and back to the setup site.
At 11 a.m. Roger Genoway from the RM of Invermay, and Tracey Peshko from the Village of Invermay brought greetings to the Forts of Saskatchewan program. The celebrants gathered at the Invermay Golden Age Club for a presentation by Cecil Machnee.
“Everyone enjoyed the interesting, educational program and interactions regarding the forts Hibernia and Alexandra,” reported Kaminski, who served as host. “The Canada Day cake was cut by Steve and Lena Potorieko and enjoyed by all. The door prizes brought a nice closure to the afternoon.”
The children and their families enjoyed the bouncy castle and barbecue. The exciting day ended with fantastic fireworks by the Town Hall.
