The 16th annual Saskatchewan Working Teamster’s Association Field Day was held on the weekend.
The event, which included demonstrations of horse-powered plowing, discing, skills competitions and educational seminars was held near Bjorkdale. SK. The event went through a wet Saturday and then had a shortened day Sunday as more rain fell.
Among the sessions was a lesson on hooking a ‘four’ up team of Belgians using a rope and pulley system on a cart with spring tooth harrow behind. The horses in the demonstration were owned by Kristina Just of Yorkton.
A six-horse hitch of Percherons owned by Lloyd Smith of Pelly. SK. were used in a demonstration of horses pulling a disc.
Jillian Just, of Yorkton also did harrowing with a Belgian and a Norwegian Fjord team.
Ray Rosenkerr was also involved with his Brabrant-cross gelding pulling a single furrow plow,
