SASKATOON – Conservative incumbent Kelly Block has secured another victory in Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek, winning her fourth term as MP with 77.6 per cent of the vote.
With 36,034 ballots cast in her favour, Block celebrated another strong mandate in the rural Saskatchewan riding, which has long been a Conservative stronghold. As of Tuesday morning, 184 of 185 polls (99.46 per cent) had reported.
“Throughout this campaign, my team and I traveled the riding — from Delisle to St. Brieux, from St. Louis to Edgemont, and everywhere in between — listening to voters who made it clear they were ready for change,” said Block.
“I’m proud to represent a riding where the values of faith, family, freedom, and hard work run deep — values that I share and will always stand up for,” she added.
Voter turnout in the riding was huge, with 74.58 per cent of registered voters—46,442 out of 62,273—casting ballots. The riding has a population of 84,111.
“As results continue to come in across the country, I am reminded that serving you is both a privilege and a responsibility that should never be taken for granted,” said Block.
Liberal candidate Katelyn Zimmer finished a distant second with 7,839 votes, while the NDP’s Cheryl Loadman received 2,569. Zimmer, however, said her party has made progress in Saskatcheawn, noting on social media that the Liberals had grown their vote share by 11 per cent compared to the previous election—a 300 per cent increase from past results.
“That’s very exciting and gives me hope for what we can get accomplished moving forward,” said Zimmer.
Nationally, the Liberals secured a minority government with 168 seats, while the Conservatives took 144. The Bloc Québécois got 23, the NDP 7, and the Green Party won one seat.
In Saskatchewan, the Conservatives swept 13 of 14 seats, with the Liberals claiming the lone remaining one.
Canada-wide, voter turnout was 67.15 per cent, with 19.1 million ballots cast out of 28.5 million registered voters.
