Woman charged with dangerous driving after male pedestrian killed in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Police in southern Alberta have charged a woman in a collision earlier this year that left one pedestrian dead and another critically injured. 

Officers responding to the January crash in Lethbridge, Alta., found a 66-year-old man dead at the scene.  

A 62-year-old woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later airlifted to Calgary, where she remains in hospital.

The investigation has determined a truck hit the two victims when it was turning left into a crosswalk.

Police say the driver stopped and called 911.

Bobbi Raquel Whillans, who is 33 and from Lethbridge, is charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm and is to appear in court on May 25.
