LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Police in southern Alberta say a 51-year-old resident of a health-care facility has been charged with manslaughter after a fellow resident was found dead.

Police say they were notified that 78-year-old Kenneth Hale died on Jan. 3.

Hale lived at St. Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge, about 200 kilometres south of Calgary.

Police say Hale’s death was deemed suspicious following an autopsy, and an investigation determined he had been assaulted at the facility on Dec. 26.

The suspect was arrested Tuesday and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Police say both men lived in the same unit.
