Canada's Wesley Chiu in second after short program at junior figure skating worlds

CALGARY — Canada's Wesley Chiu is in second place following the men's short program with 80.56 points at the world junior figure skating championship on Thursday. Japan's Kao Miura took hold of the lead, scoring 85.11 points.

Japan's Kao Miura took hold of the lead, scoring 85.11 points. Switzerland's Naoki Rossi (79.46) rounded out the top three.

Fellow Canadians Aleksa Rakic and Edward Vasii finished with 71.34 and 57.22 points, respectively.

Americans Sophia Baram and Daniel Tioumentsev claimed the pairs event, scoring 116.52 points in the free skate.

Meanwhile, Australia's Anastasia Golubeva and Hektor Giotopoulos Moore (111.18) and Ukraine's Violetta Sierova and Ivan Khobta (100.92) rounded out the podium.

Canada's Ava Kemp and Yohnatan Elizarov finished fifth (93.15).
